Laundry Detergent Time Again

So I made 5 gallons of detergent at the end of February. It is now the middle of April and I have used all but one container of detergent. Remember what you make you dilute to equal parts when using so I actually had 10 gallons of reconstituted detergent. I can seriously say that I have saved a ton of money on detergent. I ask myself WHY DID I NOT DO THIS BEFORE!!! Well the answer to that is I did not know about it. So please share your adventures with homemade cleaning products. I also put vinegar into the fabric softener section of my washer to soften the whites. I really need to get a clothes line though......Hmmm.....next project maybe? Happy washing!!!

Our Rescue Dog Gracie.....

We took in a dog that was dumped at our house. She was very emaciated and also injured. We found a vet that would help her and this is her story......

Crested Chickens

They are getting their adult feathers in. I think that we have one rooster out of the four. We believe that the red one is a rooster.  So I suppose we can start naming them. Our goats are doing fine, and are happy as ever. The hens that we already have are laying great. We are so lucky to have such healthy animals that give us a wonderful food source.

MORE CANNING.........

OK, so the first attempts at canning were successful! All that I have read, has helped a great deal. I have successfully canned applesauce, tomato sauce, pears and sliced apples for pies! I have put up dried beans, oatmeal, pasta, water and sugar. I'm working on a food storage that will last at least a month. (just in case of bad weather here in the south this coming hurricane season) I will also start my second juicing fast this morning.(since it is almost 3am here!) I will be starting to train for the Warrior Dash here in my state. I need to lose about 20 pounds that I gained over the winter. It will come off easily though. Going outside and working on fencing really gives you a workout. Who needs a gym when you can get out in your yard and work really hard. All of our plantings have done really well, except a little worm liked our carrot tops a little too much. I hope that they come back. Our new chicks are growing every day! I hope that they fit in to the flock easily. I'm sure now that the goats are bred because they have not come back into heat since the billy goat went back home. YAY!!! We will hopefully be expecting the babies on my birthday in July!! Our compost pile is coming along well. We just have to remember to keep adding to it. The boys seem to forget to not throw away the stuff that can go in there.
We are getting excited about our trip to Disney World in May. Emily is super excited!!! I guess that is all the updates I have for now. I will post some of my juicing experiences in the next few days.
